28th BKW Armada Cup on 25 October 2014

Welcome to the 28th BKW Armada Cup 2014. This year’s event will take place on Saturday 25th October and involve the following events:

Sculls: 9km with mass start for all categories
Dragon boats: 9km with separate mass starts for open, mixed and ladies‘ boats (separate classes)
Outriggers: 9 km for single-, two- and four-person, start with handicap depending on boat category
C-boats 4x+: 3.5 km with separate mass starts for girls and boys/mixed (U15)

Enrolment opens on 1 July.

We hope you have a successful time preparing for the great race and look forward to welcoming you on 25 October 2014 at the Wohlensee.

Results

Following the snowy event we experienced in 2012, the weather gods smiled on us this year. Mild temperatures and pleasant conditions formed the backdrop to this year’s traditional event, which took place without any notable hitches. The main event, the 9-km sculling race with mass start, was won by Nico Stahlberg (SUI) before Martin Damir (CRO) The ladies race was won by Mirka Knapkova (CZE).

The Dragon Boat race was won by teams from Canottieri Ticino Pavia(women), from WVS Rheingauner(mixed) and from Hochrheinpadler, Bad-Säckingen (men).
The two side event races were won by Drachenbootclub Eglisau (OC-6) and Seeclub Luzern (C-gig). All results see here.

On behalf of the organizers, the Bern Regatta Association, we would like to thank everyone who has given their support to the BKW Armada Cup this year, in particular our loyal sponsors, without whom this event could not take place. All the helpers, who once again did a fantastic job, also deserve our warm thanks.
